Trabalhos para casa: práticas, funções e significados. Perspectiva dos
professores do Ensino Básico, 1.º Ciclo
imagem do aluno.
The present study has, as starting point, interests for the functioning of the
School in the 1st grade, for their rhythms, nature and functions; where tasks
of school nature, usually designated homework (in Portuguese nominated as
“TPC”), are inserted and accomplished out of the curricular time. Increasing
the reflection about pedagogic practice, allows us simultaneously to intensify,
in theoretical terms, some of the problems with that we have been confronting
professionally. Therefore, interests to question the value and the importance
that commonly is attributed to “TPC”, because they are the way that teachers
are using for students improved their learning and carry out didactics
functions along several years of education in the 1st grade. For consequence,
we looked for to answer the question: Which are today, in the 1st grade, the
uses and the functions of “TPC”? Thus, to answer to this subject we try to know
better the uses that the teachers attribute to them and the functions that
carry out, in the process teachinglearning. Simultaneously, we looked to know
if the teachers, when prescribing homework, have in account the pupils
conditions to realize the school work, so that these tasks do not become
inefficacious and useless. This interrogation was also raised by judging if the
“TPC” is precisely one of the practices that continues to be quite used in the
Portuguese educational system. The current use of this practice reflects in the
concept of “TPC” and also in the conception of structural changes; in spite of
recognizing that, structure changes in practical mentalities are slow and
difficult of operating, comparatively to other structure type. Then, with the
objective of knowing the problematic associated to “TPC”, first of all, we made
a revision of the literature where the problems are embraced, correlated with
organization and pedagogic functioning, in turn of the 1st grade. The review of
the literature also intents to understand the conceptions of teaching-learning
models, in that is made, essentially, an approach of two different ways of
teaching performance: one, with a character more transmissible in opposition to
another, with a more constructivist vision. In this investigation, we started
at understanding the current reality of homework. In conclusion, the results
appear so that the use of “TPC”, nowadays, is still an average practice,
constituted essentially by repetitive tasks. They are still seen as an
instrument of construction of the student’s own image. A great majority of
teachers prescribes equal “TPC” for all the students, not having in account the
conditions that the students have when accomplishing them, compromising the
premise of the “equality of opportunities” so defended by authors like
Perrenoud (1995) or Meirieu (1999). The data had still pointed to a
differentiation in prescribed “TPC”, not so much at level of the zone/region
where the teachers work, but more at level of the pedagogic posture adopted, in
other words, it seems to be precisely the form of working that influences the
way and the type of prescribed tasks.
